Drusilla Duffill Theatre School

Examinations in The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and The Royal Academy of Dance

Entry to examinations can be made at regular intervals in all dance genres and are recommended as a means of assessment and achievement for the children. An additional weekly coaching class is required to ensure repetition of the syllabus and to encourage the children to perform their exercises and dance solo. The children will be assessed individually as to when their examinations are due. Parents will be notified in advance, in writing, if their child is thought to be ready to be entered for examination.

As an introduction to examinations, when children in the Pre-Primary classes are ready to progress to the next level they are prepared for a Presentation Class, to which parents are invited at the end of term. The presentation will be assessed by the Artistic Director, Drusilla Duffill or the Principal, Vikki Harris who will present each child with a certificate of achievement at the Pre-Primary standard. The class will then progress to Primary Grade. It is not necessary for children to attend additional coaching classes for this presentation class or to have any special uniform or shoes.
